Joe Elliott has exclusively told Planet Rock that Def Leppard plan to release new music in time for their live shows in 2026.
Earlier this week, Def Leppard announced an 11-date European tour for next summer that includes a massive outdoor concert at Belfast Belsonic and arena shows in Glasgow, Sheffield, London, Birmingham and Manchester.
Prior to the European dates, Def Leppard play a 12-night residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas throughout February.
To celebrate tickets for Def Leppard’s UK tour going on sale today (5th September), Def Leppard frontman and Planet Rock presenter Joe Elliott called in to Breakfast with Paul Anthony for a chat.
During the conversation, Joe told Paul that Def Leppard are eyeing up a late 2026/early 2027 release date for their 13th studio album and they’re planning to premiere a couple of new songs before their live dates.
“We’re working through a new album right now, which won’t be out next year, but we may – and probably will – release a new song in time for Vegas and then release another one again for the British tour.” Joe said. “That’s the plan that we have right now, so there’s an exclusive for you!
“So, we’re gonna kind of drip feed songs from the album and then it’ll come out late ‘26, early ’27 maybe. Hopefully. So, it gives us a great opportunity to do that.”
Joe continued: “There was a point maybe in the last 20 years where people wouldn’t play new music (live) before an album came out because it would be on YouTube. I think, we’re like over that. You know what, if you hear it before it comes out and it’s all over YouTube then whatever. We don’t mind. But we’ll probably actually release the song that we’re going to play anyway so you will have the real version available.”

The sextet of summer shows are Def Leppard’s first UK tour dates since their co-headline tour with Mötley Crüe in 2023, which included a homecoming concert at Sheffield Bramall Lane stadium.
Def Leppard’s last album ‘Diamond Star Halos’ was released on 27th May 2022 and charted at No.5 in the UK.

Eddie and Alex Van Halen’s childhood home
Eddie and Alex Van Halen’s humble childhood home on Las Lunas Street in Pasadena, California. They moved to the property when their family emigrated from the Netherlands in 1962, and the brothers honed their musical craft in the garage at the rear of the property. Following Eddie Van Halen’s death in October 2020, the house became a shrine for Van Halen fans.
Angus and Malcolm Young’s childhood home
The youngest of eight siblings born in Scotland, Angus and Malcolm Young emigrated to Australia in 1963 with their parents William and Margaret and older brothers and sisters, including future AC/DC producer George. Initially living at the Villawood Migrant Hostel, in 1965 the Youngs moved to 4 Burleigh Street in the Sydney suburb of Burwood where Angus and Malcolm were raised. The brothers also formed AC/DC while living at the semi-detached house. Despite being added to Australia’s National Trust Register of Historic Houses in 2013, the house was “accidentally” demolished by developers in December 2024 to make way for a residential development.

Def Leppard frontman Joe Elliott was born and raised at 61 Crookes Road in Sheffield. Ahead of Def Leppard’s homecoming gigs at The Leadmill and Bramall Lane in May 2023, Joe visited the property. He wrote: “The house I was born in, grew up in, met Sav & Tony Kenning for the very time in that upstairs room you can see above me …. Sigh …. Memories!!”
