KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Not long after the news broke that Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy would miss the remainder of the Chiefs’ season opener, another KC sports star exited his game as well.

In the top of the seventh inning during the Royals’ matchup with the Minnesota Twins, shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. was replaced by Nick Loftin. Witt Jr. missed the rest of the game with back spasms.
While news of a possible injury is never good, especially when it involves a team’s best player, the Royals would go on to win the game 2-1. KC now sits at 72-69, just out of the final American League Wild Card spot held by the Seattle Mariners.
It’s unknown whether Witt Jr. will be sidelined long-term or not. The 25-year-old missed time earlier in the year with back tightness, but it’s also unknown if the two issues are related.
