Cranston nabbed his win for his portrayal of Continental CEO Griffin Mill in Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s Hollywood comedy The Studio. The Apple TV+ series earned five of the six best guest actor in a comedy nominations, with Cranston beating Anthony Mackie, Dave Franco, Martin Scorsese and Ron Howard — the latter of two who would’ve scored their first acting Emmy had they won. Jon Bernthal earned the sixth nod in the category for his portrayal of Michael Berzatto in The Bear.
Julianne Nicholson also won against a fellow Hacks star, Robby Hoffman, for her portrayal as Dance Mom on season four of the HBO comedy.
