The Scottish singer-songwriter, global feminist, political activist and philanthropist will take the stage with V (formerly Eve Ensler) as moderator on Oct. 11 for an evening of stories, inspiration and impact. V is the Obie Award-winning playwright, author and founder of V Day and One Billion Rising and writer of “The Vagina Monologues,” among others.

The event will be a journey through music, meaning and movement, organizers said. Lennox, who is known for her groundbreaking music career and activism, in conversation with V will share live personal reflections on creativity, advocacy, and what it means to use one’s voice for change.

Annie Lennox is coming to speak at the Carteret Performing Arts and Events Center at 7 p.m. on Oct. 11.

The evening is in support of the release of ‘Annie Lennox: Retrospective,” expected Sept. 23. Made in close collaboration with Lennox herself, the new book gathers together more than 200 images. The photographs, by photographers including Richard Avedon, Paolo Roversi, Bettina Rheims and Ellen von Unwerth, are interspersed with song lyrics and personal anecdotes to provide an insight into aspects of Lennox’s life as a performer, song-writer and creative force.

After starting her musical career in the 1970s, Lennox and Dave Stewart found international acclaim in the 1980s as Eurythmics. She kicked off her solo career in 1992 with the album “Diva,” followed by “Medusa” in 1995. To date, Lennox has released six solo studio albums and a compilation album. She has been awarded eight Brit Awards, four Grammy Awards and an MTV Video Music Award. In 2002, Lennox received a Billboard Century Award and a Golden Globe and the Academy Award for Best Original Song for “Into the West,” written for the soundtrack to the feature film “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” in 2004.

Among other commendations, Lennox and Stewart were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2020, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2022.

She founded the Sing campaign in 2007 and The Circle of Women (The Circle), a women’s empowerment charity, in 2008. In 2011, Lennox was appointed an OBE by Queen Elizabeth II for her “tireless charity campaigns and championing of humanitarian causes.” She also performed at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Concert in front of Buckingham Palace in 2012.

In 2009, Lennox was awarded the Peace Summit Award 2009 by the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates for her engagement in the fight against the HIV pandemic in South Africa. In 2010, she was named as a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for AIDS and Lennox also works with other organizations such as Oxfam, Amnesty International and the British Red Cross.

In March 2025, Lennox played her first live performance in six years at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The show, entitled “Sisters: Annie Lennox and Friends,” was organized to celebrate International Women’s Day.
