Lady Gaga stunned during her performance at the 2025 MTV VMAs.
The Mayhem singer sang “Abracadabra” and “The Dead Dance.”
She pre-recorded her VMAs performance because she needed to be at Madison Square Garden tonight for the Mayhem Ball tour.
Lady Gaga was able to be in two places at once this Sunday night. She performed at both her Mayhem Ball tour show at Madison Square Garden and at the 2025 MTV VMAs, thanks to a pre-recorded performance in which the star sang “Abracadabra” and “The Dead Dance.” She did, however, make a live appearance at the ceremony earlier in the show to accept her award for Artist of the Year.

It was announced that Gaga would be joining the show on August 30, when the VMAs posted on Instagram, “There will be magic in the air at the 2025 #VMAs because @LADYGAGA IS PERFORMING! 🪄 You won’t want to miss her return, September 7 on @cbstv and @paramountplus!”
MTV also wrote on X, “Need all of my fellow Little Monsters to COME TO THE FRONT! Why, you ask?! Oh, because MOTHER MONSTER HERSELF IS PERFORMING AT THE 2025 #VMAs!!!! @ladygaga Don’t miss a second of all the MAYHEM that will be caused.”
In February, the star discussed her latest album with ELLE UK, explaining how meaningful it was to release new music.
“Firstly, it’s an absolute privilege and honor to be able to release music that so many people have been so excited to hear,” she shared. “I feel really honored to be a singer and a songwriter and a producer of music that will be, if you so choose, the soundtrack to a moment or a bit of time in your life.”
She continued, “It was hard at first to name the album Mayhem because I so much don’t want that feeling to be real. I am also a hopeful person. I’m also somebody that is a dreamer, but what I think I ultimately arrived at is, it’s all of the fractures of who we are and the fractures in the world and the mayhem of that brokenness that ultimately teaches us the power of joy, and dancing and crying and laughing and listening to music and holding your friends and your family and repeat!”
