The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards proved to be a night to remember.
From standout designer looks on the red carpet to an array of showstopping performances, the UBS Arena in New York, where the 2025 MTV VMAs took place, was brimming with entertainment. Hosted by LL Cool J, the annual awards show took place on Sunday night and spotlighted the artistic achievements of several of the world’s biggest names, like Mariah Carey, who received the 2025 Video Vanguard Award.
Lady Gaga, who led this year’s crop of nominees with 12 nominations in total, took home the honor for Artist of the Year. Gaga, herself, was physically present to accept the award before quickly returning to Madison Square Garden for night two of her “Mayhem Ball” tour.
VMAs performer Sabrina Carpenter also won big on Sunday night: Carpenter, who just released her new album, Man’s Best Friend, received the MTV VMA for Best Album for 2024’s Short n’ Sweet.
Taking home the biggest honor of the night, Video of the Year, was Ariana Grande for “Brighter Days Ahead.” Earlier in the night, the Wicked star received the Moon Person for Best Pop for the music video as well.
After wrapping up the night with the award for Video of the Year, MTV announced the remainder of this year’s Moon Person recipients on social media.
