The summer of Britpop continues as Suede lead the Official Albums Chart race this week with brand-new release Antidepressants (1).

26 years after their last Official UK Number 1 Album Head Music, the band who were a cornerstone of the ‘90s Britpop movement alongside the likes of Oasis, Blur and Pulp, are looking to claim their fourth chart-topper, marking a significant moment in the group’s history.

But Sabrina Season is here, and she is not giving up the top spot lightly. After collecting Number 1 last week, Sabrina Carpenter’s Man’s Best Friend sits at Number 2 on the Official Chart Update amid a flurry of new midweek entries.

Indie rock outfit Red Rum Club could claim their first-ever Top 5 album with BUCK (3). The Merseyside collective’s last release, 2024’s Western Approaches, saw the band secure a Top 10 position (8), with them now in line to smash their personal best.

It’s a week for the legends, as Saint Etienne could also secure a first Top 5 project with International (4). If they manage to maintain their early momentum, the former Mercury Prize nominees’ new release could be set to surpass the performance of their previous highest-charting album, 1993 record So Tough (7).

English singer-songwriter Tom Odell may secure his sixth Top 5 prize with seventh studio album A Wonderful Life (5).

London dance music duo Faithless is still going strong with their new album Champion Sound (6). Their first project since 2020 could give them an eighth Top 10 LP. The group have already secured three Number 1 albums, their most recent being 2015’s Faithless 2.0, which included their late lead vocalist, Maxi Jazz.

American folk artists Big Thief could net their first Top 10 placing with Double Infinity (7).

Similarly, former Talking Heads lead singer David Byrne may also obtain a first solo Top 10 with Who Is The Sky? (8). With this being his first release since 2018, the 73-year-old is showing that music is still very much in his DNA.

Liverpudlian rapper Mazza_l20 could break the Top 10 with Different Times (9) and, rounding off an (almost) all-new Top 10 midweek, Midlands-born singer Toyah may earn a third Top 10 with greatest hits compilation Chameleon: The Very Best of Toyah (10).

Further down, post-punk south Londoners Shame are closing in on a second Top 20 album with Cutthroat (11).

Following the release of a special 25th anniversary edition of Slipknot’s self-titled debut, their Slipknot album could storm to a new Top 20 peak this week (12). Having charted previously in 1999 (37), this is a sentimental moment for one of metal’s most loved groups.

From one 25th anniversary to another! Ronan Keating’s debut album Ronan could also find its way back into the Top 20, with the release of a special edition to celebrate its milestone (13). The album originally peaked at Number 1 back in 2000.

Celebrated French composer Jean-Michel Jarre has released his Live In Bratislava concert on physical and digital streaming, which sees him team up with the esteemed Brian May. This could provide the musician a 17th Top 20 (16).

With the release of its sequel album SWAG II, Justin Bieber’s SWAG could vault an impressive 68 spots back into the Top 20 this week (19).

London synth band Hot Chip could find themselves back in the Top 40 with Joy in Repetition, a release containing their greatest hits celebrating 25 years as a group (21).

Following the release of his new single Ocean, Calvin Harris’s 2024 album 96 Months could climb 14 places this week (26).

Yusuf, also known as Cat Stevens, may also find his way into the Top 40 with compilation album On The Road To Findout: Vol 2 (27).

Outspoken Irish hip-hop trio KNEECAP could see their 2024 album Fine Art secure them their first Top 40 hit (34). This follows the release of a new single, Sayonara.

Pendulum’s latest album Inertia may find itself back in the Top 40 this week, thanks to its release on physical formats (37).

Glenn Hughes, former frontman of the funk-rock band Trapeze, is on course to secure a first Top 40 album with Chosen (38).

And finally, with the release of her catchy single The Dead Dance and recent MTV VMAs success, Lady Gaga’s former Number 1 album MAYHEM could return to the Top 40, climbing 42 places midweek (40).
