During the interview, she learned that the record label made only 200 vinyl copies of “Eyes Wide Open.” Moreover, the company gave most of them away to its executives. For those unversed, Hollywood Records was Carpenter’s former label.
When the interviewer asked if she received a copy, the 26-year-old stated that she didn’t. The singer tried to diffuse the tension by adding, “Or maybe at the time, but I don’t know. I moved a couple of times in the middle.”
However, seemingly unable to hold back her shock, Carpenter asked, “Only 200 made?” The interviewer nodded to confirm. She then replied, “Damn. They really didn’t give a f*** about me,” before bursting into laughter. The pop star concluded by simply saying, “It’s okay.”
