Season 5 of “Only Murders in the Building” introduces a set of three eccentric billionaires, and one of the actors happens to be series star Selena Gomez‘s teenage crush.
In the new 10-episode installment (Hulu, weekly), Charles-Haden Savage (Steve Martin), Mabel Mora (Gomez) and Oliver Putnam (Martin Short) investigate the death of the building’s longtime doorman Lester (Teddy Coluca), found in an Arconia building fountain in the Season 4 finale. Sebastian “Bash” Steed (Christoph Waltz) is longevity-obsessed, and hotelier/interior decorator Camila White (Renée Zellweger) gives off Martha Stewart vibes, while Jay Pflug (Logan Lerman) is a beneficiary of generational wealth.
“They were delightful,” Martin, 80, says. “Christoph Waltz, whom I got to know a little bit, is very wry and intellectual too, but an intellectual with a sense of humor, unlike, you know…”
“Others,” Short, 75, offers.
“Well, you have the sense of humor,” Martin says.
Selena Gomez admits to having a crush on Logan Lerman, a guest-star on Season 5 of Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building.”
“Selena,” Short says, “what did you think of people like Logan Lerman?”
“Well, I told you the funniest story,” Gomez, 33, says. “I had a crush on him when I was 15. And then Renée, I was obsessed with her growing up. I mean, ‘Chicago’ was one of my favorite − actually, it was the first musical I’d ever seen. Oh man, that’s kind of dark.”
“Christoph,” she adds, “made me laugh without even trying the entire time. He was just so genuine and matter of fact.”
Lerman, also 33, told the Associated Press that he knew of Gomez’s crush, “and we did joke about it.”
“We’re both around the same age and both actors that have been doing this for a long time, and we had never met until this experience. And she’s lovely, and it was really fun working with her. She’s great.”
The two also spent time away from the set. On Aug. 15, Gomez shared a photo on Instagram dining with Lerman, his fiancée, Analuisa Corrigan, and Gomez’s husband-to-be Benny Blanco.
