This Saturday evening at 8:00, Raymond Jones brings you three hours of the latest classical music releases on “This Just In.” This week, the program offers a rich mix of premieres, Nordic Gems, and Baroque treasures.

First, get a sneak peek of a brand-new release from Bis Records. Ernst Krenek’s “Potpourri” receives a vibrant reading by the Orchestre National de Pays de la Loire, under Sasha Goetzel. This recording captures the energy and complexity of Krenek’s music in a performance you won’t want to miss.

As part of our ongoing journey through the Brilliant Classics compilation “Nordic Classics,” we hear Carl Nielsen’s Symphony No. 6, “Semplice.” Nielsen’s enigmatic final symphony offers shifting moods, musical irony, and a subtle deconstruction of symphony form. A fascinating work for both longtime admirers and newcomers to his music.

For lovers of Baroque chamber music, Dietrich Buxtehude’s Trio Sonata No. 3, performed by the ensemble Filament, provides a fresh perspective. This recording is part of “Alchemy of Another,” an album that highlights Buxtehude’s lesser-known chamber works.

And finally, pianist Christopher O’Riley takes listeners on a journey through selections from Book Two of Bach’s “The Well-Tempered Clavier,” recently released on Navona.

If it’s classical and it’s new, it’s on “This Just In.” Tune in to WHRO-FM 90.3, or listen online, this Saturday at 8 p.m.
