Andrew Bird is reissuing his 2005 album, Andrew Bird & the Mysterious Production of Eggs, for its 20th anniversary. The new edition is out February 27, and it’ll include the original album, live recordings, demos, and alternate versions. One previously unreleased track featured on the reissue is “Blood.” Find that below, along with an orchestral version of “Fake Palindromes,” featuring the Nu Deco Ensemble.
The anniversary edition of Andrew Bird & the Mysterious Production of Eggs will be released physically and digitally. The 3xLP box set features new cover artwork by Jay Ryan and a 54-page book with photographs, an essay by Andrew Bird, and a piece from Anders Lindall on the album’s creation.
Bird will further celebrate the anniversary of Andrew Bird & the Mysterious Production of Eggs with a series of orchestral shows. See his tour dates below.
“Those years at the barn (2002-2005) were a creative bender,” Bird reflected in a statement. “Immersed in nature with few distractions there was time to indulge every impulse without much feedback (for better or worse) from my Chicago community. This isn’t working. Scrap it and don’t look back. Don’t look back, until now, of course. I’ve said I’m reluctant about exhuming this period as I’m writing and recording my 19th album as we speak. It has had its revelations and due to the exhaustive efforts, we dug up some really cool stuff from the cutting room floor. Anyway, looking back can be painful but in this case it’s worth it.”
Bird’s next album will follow 2023’s Outside Problems and his two 2024 covers collections, Sunday Morning Put-On and Cunningham Bird.
