Hunter Tylo spent decades playing Dr. Taylor Hayes on The Bold and the Beautiful, and after years away from the show, the actress is opening up about if she would ever return to the soap genre.
Tylo made another appearance today on The Unexpected Cosmology podcast where she was answering the burning questions that the podcast viewers had.
One of the first questions Tylo addressed was if she would ever consider returning to the Bold and the Beautiful, to which she responded.
Tylo began her response saying “I don’t know if you’ve heard the things I’ve said about the whole genre of soap operas.” Referring to her previous conversations with The Unexpected Cosmology.
The actress shared how she believes the soap genre is putting out negativity into the world, sharing, “In my opinion, even though they [soap operas] cloak themselves to be addressing social issues and doing all this ‘good’ for influencing people, my opinion is that they influence people to do really bad things.”
The actress continued, “They [soap operas] influence people to live their life in such a way that is very destructive and they also glorify narcissistic and abusive relationships acting like there is no consequence to that, which is a big deal to me.
She then tied her perspective into some of the storylines she had previously portrayed, stating, “I’m going back and forth between one boyfriend and the next. I’m dating someone’s dad even though I was just married to their son. It’s just not cool.”
Tylo then summarized her answer by plainly stating, “So in a nut shell probably not.”
Why did Tylo leave The Bold and the Beautiful?
As Parade previously reported, Tylo did not agree with the direction and choices that her character was taking, and after agreeing to come back under the understanding that her character would we acting one way, when she was asked to do things she was not comfortable with, and then was put in a situation where she did not feel safe, the actress decision to leave the show was reaffirmed.
What was Tylo’s role on The Bold and the Beautiful?
Hunter Tylo portrayed the role of Dr. Taylor Hayes off and on the soap opera from 1990-2019. The character was at the center of a front burner romantic triangle between Ridge (Ron Moss/Thorsten Kaye) and Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang).
Her character had three children on the show, Steffy, Pheobe, and Thomas.
In addition to her love-affair with Ridge, she also dated Ridge’s brother Thorne, and his father Eric, along with numerous other suitors over the years.
Tylo’s role has since been recast, first by Krista Allen, and is currently being portrayed by Rebecca Budig.
