Recent University of Scranton graduates are achieving success in their intended career paths with jobs and impressive salaries, according to data collected in the Roche Family Center for Career Development’s Class of 2024 First Destination Survey.

The University’s comprehensive First Destination Survey reflects data collected at the 12-month, post-graduation mark. The University shares its six-month outcomes with the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) for inclusion in national benchmarking.

Undergraduate Report

The success rate for the undergraduate class of 2024 was 99%, according to information collected from 662 individuals who completed their studies from summer 2023 through spring 2024. This represents an 83% knowledge rate, far exceeding the national recommendation of 65%.

The majority of graduates (55%) had secured full-time employment, while 41% had successfully enrolled in continuing education and 3% had been employed part-time or were pursuing other intentional paths such as a gap year.

Respondents reported a mean starting salary of $64,030. This represents a staggering 26% increase from four years earlier and a 4.3% increase from one year prior.

The most common profession among the respondents was nursing, which yielded an average starting salary of $88,763.

About 84% of graduates were employed in the tristate area (New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania).

The most common first destination for graduates of the Kania School of Management and the College of Arts and Sciences was full-time employment. Continuing education led the way for Leahy College of Health Sciences graduates.

The most recent NACE report, analyzing the class of 2023, found a national 85% success rate and $63,721 mean starting salary for bachelor’s degree graduates.

Graduate Report

The University’s graduate class of 2024 reported a 100% success rate and mean annual salary of $82,932, according to data from 384 individuals who completed their studies from summer 2023 through spring 2024. This represents a 69% knowledge rate, again outpacing the recommended 65%.

The tristate area remains the most common employment location with Pennsylvania leading the way. Graduates span the world, however, with respondents employed in California and Texas, as well as Saudi Arabia, Ireland, India and Japan.

The $82,932 starting salary represents a 15.4% increase from just three years earlier.

According to the NACE, the national average for successful outcomes among master’s and doctoral degree recipients is about 90%.
