CHICAGO (WLS) — A Chicago nonprofit that blends music with mentorship is preparing for its biggest event of the year.
Guitars Over Guns, founded in 2008, has paired thousands of students with mentors while using music and art to boost confidence, creativity and opportunity.
On Saturday, Sept. 20, the group will host its annual fundraiser Band Together 2025 at Amazing Space, 207 S. Desplaines St., from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event supports programs that provide students with mentorship, access to the arts and career pathways, along with mental health resources through its M-Power initiative.
Chicago Regional Director Andre “Add-2” Daniels says the night will highlight the power of music and storytelling to connect young people with the community. Singer-songwriter Nashon Holloway will also perform live in support of the cause.
