Fresh off a blistering touring schedule that’s seen them share festival bills with jam band royalty like The String Cheese Incident, moe., The Wood Brothers, and Keller Williams, and scorch legendary rooms like Pappy & Harriet’s and the Troubadour, New Jersey’s Dogs in a Pile are bringing their unique blend of jazz, funk, reggae, and psychedelic rock to the Miners Foundry stage on Saturday, September 13.

“We treat every show as if it were our last,” says keyboardist Jeremy Kaplan. “We’ve been playing larger venues recently, but we still love the intimacy of a rip-roaring, hot, sweaty room.”

Praised for their razor-sharp musicianship, fearless improvisation, and genre-hopping creativity, Dogs in a Pile are masters at keeping fans on their toes. One moment they’re locked into a tight funk groove, the next they’re soaring into jazz-infused psychedelia or reggae rhythms—always with the kind of precision and passion that only comes from years of dedication to their craft. “One of the best things about our live show is you learn to expect the unexpected,” Kaplan says. “When you think we’re going to zig, we zag.”

The band’s chemistry is rooted in deep musical training and shared experience. Guitar virtuoso Jimmy Law and powerhouse drummer Joe Babick first joined forces in New Jersey before teaming up with Berklee School of Music alumni Sam Lucid (bass), Kaplan (keys), and Brian Murray (guitar) to complete the lineup. From there, the Dogs hit the ground running—building a devoted Northeast fanbase known as the Dog Pound, then rapidly expanding nationwide.

Their reputation as one of the jam scene’s most dynamic live acts was cemented with a sold-out blowout at Asbury Park’s Stone Pony in 2021, a string of high-energy festival appearances, and a legendary three-night headlining run in Nevada City earlier this year at The Chief Crazy Horse. With three live albums, two studio records, and a third due this fall, Dogs in a Pile are charging into 2025 with fresh material and unstoppable momentum, ready to spread their electrifying sound and infectious good energy to fans across the country.
