The ending of Foundation Season 3 Episode 10 concludes what seemed to be a tremendous saga, but also leaves most things unresolved and delivers some shocking twists, like whether Demerzel dies or survives. With the Mule reveal and most characters hanging in jeopardy, it seems that only Foundation Season 4 would be able to provide more clarity on the situation.

Does Demerzel die in Foundation Season 3’s finale?
Yes, Demerzel does die in the Season 3 finale of Foundation.
Though it is still implied in some ways that Demerzel can be back, including her earlier claim that she does not die, by the end of the episode, it seems that she is indeed vaporized. There were already rumors of her not making it through, or at least suffering a cruel fate by the end of Foundation Season 3.
In the finale, Brother Dusk transitions into Darkness, coming to the end of his term. Following this, he goes to the lab, where new clones of the Galactic Empire’s first autocrat are made. Darkness then destroys the establishment.
Brother Day, meanwhile, reunites with Demerzel. He tries to convince her to use the Brazen Head to undergo the process of clasping to override her programming. But before this, she is overcome by the thought of what Darkness is doing in the cloning lab.
As Demerzel reaches there, she is greeted by Darkness, who has baby Cleon in his possession. He places the baby on the floor and plans to activate the Ascension Chamber’s light beam. Darkness also taunts Demerzel that she cannot work against her programming. As he fires the beam, she is forced to dive in and protect the baby.
Demerzel is unable to save the baby and is vaporized along with it, leaving behind only her robot head and a puddle of metal. Moreover, it remains unclear if she will come back in the future. But as of now, Demerzel’s arc has come to an end in Foundation Season 3.
