Prince Harry made a surprise visit to Ukraine with the Invictus Foundation to support the rehabilitation of injured soldiers.
The Duke of Sussex, 40, had previously traveled to the nation in April, when he journeyed to Lyiv in the western region of the war-ravaged country to tour the Superhumans Trauma Centre that provides care for amputees.
He has maintained a longstanding partnership with injured military personnel through the Invictus Games, which he established in 2014 following his own departure from the Armed Forces.
On this occasion, he has ventured nearer to the battlefront by traveling to Kyiv, where important government facilities were struck by Russian missiles last weekend.
He recently confessed that he needed to pose one vital question to his wife, Meghan, before embarking on the trip to Ukraine.
The Duke revealed to the Guardian that the concept of initially visiting Kyiv was suggested by Olga Rudnieva, who serves as the CEO and Founder of the Superhuman Centre, following a “chance meeting” with her in New York.
Harry expressed his determination to do everything possible to assist her organization. Olga informed him that without question, an actual visit to Kyiv would provide the greatest benefit.
The first person he sought approval for the trip was his wife, admitting, “I had to check with my wife and the British government to make sure it was OK.”
After both Meghan and the UK government had approved his visit, he received an official invitation from the Ukrainian government.
In addition to his work with Invictus, Harry plans to unveil further details about initiatives designed to assist those injured in the conflict, aiming to offer support across the nation. With current figures indicating that 130,000 individuals have been left permanently disabled by the war, Harry has expressed his commitment to aiding the wounded.

“We cannot stop the war, but what we can do is do everything we can to help the recovery process,” he shared.
“We can continue to humanise the people involved in this war and what they are going through. We have to keep it in the forefront of people’s minds. I hope this trip will help to bring it home to people because it’s easy to become desensitised to what has been going on.”
Prince Harry‘s brother William has also demonstrated strong backing for Ukraine throughout the war, visiting British forces in Poland close to the conflict zone in 2023 and expressing gratitude for their role in “defending our freedoms”
He also dedicated two days in Estonia, a nation of strategic importance on NATO’s eastern border, where he engaged with military personnel and Ukrainian displaced persons.
The future king allegedly sought to visit Ukraine directly, but his trip was prevented due to “security concerns.”
