Swansea Sirens will take on the extraordinary You Bet! on Tour challenge on ITV this Saturday
A team of cheerleaders will embark on an unusual challenge on TV this weekend as they try to win thousands of pounds.
Swansea Sirens of Swansea University will take on the extraordinary You Bet! on Tour challenge on ITV this Saturday, September 13, in which they will attempt to peg up 10 T-shirts on a washing line. However the challenge includes an added twist, which is that the line will be 30ft in the air. For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter.
As a result the cheerleaders will work together as they throw each other into the air. All the while, a celebrity panel who will have bet on whether they can do it or not, will be cheering them on.
The panel includes McFly’s Danny Jones, dancer Oti Mabuse, and Olympian athlete Greg Rutherford. If successful the Swansea Sirens will win £5,000.
The cheerleaders will work together as they throw each other into the air(Image: Matt Frost / ITV)Although remaining tight-lipped on the results of the challenge, Swansea Sirens’ member Caitlin Bendyk said the team trained ahead of their appearance on the show. She said: “ITV found us on Instagram and we found out we were taking part in the show around April.
“We began training during Easter, which is when everyone goes home. But training meant people either had to travel back and forth or stay a bit longer on campus.”
According to Caitlin training entailed a lot of basket toss, which is when three or more bases toss a flyer into the air.
In May the Swansea Sirens made their way to London for the challenge. The experience on the show was “amazing” according to Caitlin who alongside the rest of the team got to meet Stephen Mulhern and the other celebrities on the show.
“They were so, so nice. The experience was just amazing. My best friend, Maisie, she loves Stephen Mulhern.
“We got off the bus and met the team the day before filming the challenge and as we were walking down – we couldn’t believe we were there anyway – and someone said: ‘Hello’ and we turned around and saw Stephen Mulhern.
“Maisie couldn’t believe it. And the other girls are also huge fans of Oti, Danny, and Greg. During the challenge we couldn’t hear them cheering us on – we were all so stressed, in the moment and screaming at each other, that we didn’t really hear them.”
When asked what winning the cash prize would mean to them Caitlin replied: “Cheerleading is an expensive sports club and we don’t get as much funding as other clubs. We do a lot of charity work and fundraising to help with funding so any money would be amazing.”

The show is presented by Stephen Mulhern who is joined by a revolving celebrity panel. However the brand new series will be hitting the road seeing epic and unique challenges take place all over the UK.
This series will see a panel of celebrities including Holly Willoughby, Zoe Ball, Rob Beckett, Alex Brooker, Rylan Clark, Alesha Dixon, Alison Hammond, Babatunde Aléshé, Josie Gibson, Danny Jones, Eddie Kadi, Judi Love, Oti Mabuse, Nick Mohammed, AJ Odudu, Will Best, Greg Rutherford, Adam and Ryan Thomas, Johnny Vegas, and Josh Widdicombe.
Viewers can watch You Bet! on Tour on ITV and ITV X at 8.30pm on Saturday, September 13.
