Legendary pop star Dua Lipa certainly knew how to take Massachusetts by storm.
The beloved singer, 30, best known for songs like “Levitating” and “One Kiss,” made a serious impression on Boston this past week while in town to perform at the TD Garden as part of her “Radical Optimism” Tour. When she wasn’t cascading into the air and delighting fans, the singer was out on the town, enjoying some of Boston’s hottest bars and restaurants. But it was one viral video that had fans from Boston and beyond particularly overjoyed, and it involved Dua signing her John Hancock in an interesting spot.
In the video, Dua Lipa can be seen coming down onto the floor during her show to interact with fans. One man, in shock that the singer was in his presence, asked her to sign his forehead, to which she obliged.
“Oh my god! Oh my God,” he cried, as the performer calmly signed her name on his forehead. As she walked away, it was clear the fan was overwhelmed with joy, seeing as he was screaming with delight.
When she wasn’t on the clock or signing people’s foreheads, Dua Lipa headed out with friends. The stunner headed to The Red Fox, an Italian American restaurant and lounge, on Thursday evening to sip dirty martinis with several friends. The group sat in a red booth tucked away from prying eyes and enjoyed a prosciutto and zeppole appetizer and tiramisu, according to an insider. With her hair slicked into a high ponytail, the singer looked as glamorous as ever in a reddish-pink cocktail dress with shoulder cutouts. The restaurant also sent over a dessert cocktail for the party to enjoy.
Dua Lipa also shared several photos of herself enjoying lobster rolls and fries at Neptune Oyster on Salem Street in the North End, which she proudly boasted that she visited twice in one week.
The pop star also wove her way into Bostonians’ hearts by tapping into the music of hometown heroes, Aerosmith. Dua Lipa performing a cover of the band’s 1998 song “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing,” best known as the theme song from the blockbuster Armageddon. Wearing a shimmering tuxedo coat, stirrup stockings, and an oversized black feather boa, the singer belted out Steven Tyler‘s iconic ballad to the massive crowd.
The nod to local heroes is something Dua has been doing throughout the tour at each stop. She told the crowd she was a little nervous, but decided to go for it.
“This part of the show, every single night, I’ve been doing a different song by a local artist from the city that I’m in. I’m very excited, but I’m a little bit nervous about this next song,” Dua Lipa shared, NME reported. “It’s by a group formed in Boston, obviously, but I feel like for any young kid that was armed with LimeWire when they were young, this was the first thing that they downloaded. It was the first big power ballad that you sing at the top of your lungs when you get the chance. It also has a movie to boot that makes you absolutely weep. This is Aerosmith’s ‘I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing’”.
