Just when it seemed like all had been said about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, a close confidant of The Duchess of Sussex might be gearing up to release an explosive tell-all book.
Insiders have hinted that Jessica Mulroney, a Canadian stylist and one of Meghan’s former best friends, could be ready to spill the beans on the royal’s downfall.
Jessica found herself in hot water following a “white-privilege” scandal in 2020, which resulted in her being dropped from TV appearances after a racially charged dispute with lifestyle blogger Sasha Exeter.
She issued a public apology at the time, while her then-husband Ben stepped down from his role as a television presenter to support her amidst the widespread online – and professional – backlash, which led to a very public falling out with Meghan Markle.
Jessica temporarily deactivated her Instagram page during this period, and upon reactivation, a photo she had shared with Meghan was noticeably absent.
Their friendship remained strong during the early stages of Meghan’s relationship with her future husband, and Jessica’s children—twins Brian and John and daughter Ivy—even served as page boys and bridesmaids at Meghan and Harry’s Royal wedding in 2018.
However, two years later, the pair parted ways as sources claimed at the time Meghan, 44, had ended the friendship due to the drama surrounding Jessica.
Until now, Jessica has kept quiet, refraining from commenting on the noticeable silence from her once best friend, Meghan, whom she considered to have been like family.
But if Jessica now decides to share her side of the story, it could involve revealing details about her friendship with the royal, says the source.
“Jessica was let down and hurt by these false accusations swirling around her. She was really dragged through the mud in 2020 and has had an emotional time since then, watching from the sidelines while it all unfolded in the media with false reports about her, and unable to say anything.
“This could be her opportunity to set the record straight about a lot of things that she was accused of, after being canceled,” says the insider.
They continued, “She has the receipts. No one had a voice for her and helped her to get the truth out at the time, so writing a book would be the chance to reclaim her power and counteract the false stories, like the one about the treatment of Princess Charlotte during the bridesmaid’s dress fitting in 2018 for Meghan’s wedding to Harry.
“If she goes ahead with a book deal, Jessica would finally be able to explain what really took place at that time and correct all the false narratives that have been spun around her.”
When the controversy first erupted, reports emerged that Meghan responded with disbelief upon learning of Jessica’s “tone deaf” threats to take legal action against Exeter, and quickly determined she could “no longer be associated with her”.
“Meghan is absolutely mortified that she’s been dragged into this complete mess. She said Jessica is in no way a racist, but the way she handled the situation was tone deaf and heartbreaking,” a source close to Meghan claimed at the time.
