The pair’s absence is not surprising, simply because Swift was not nominated for an award tonight. The Emmys honor the best in American television, and, well, Swift is no actress–she’s far too focused on dominating the world’s music charts.
There is no way Kelce could have made it tonight even if Swift had decided to come, as the football pro is in Kansas City, Missouri, with his NFL team, the Kansas City Chiefs. The team is playing the Philadelphia Eagles tonight. And according to fan videos, it seems that Swift is right there with him, having seemingly snuck into the stadium with her mom ahead of the game.
The couple’s absence tonight also comes after they skipped the MTV Video Music Awards last weekend, despite the fact that Swift was nominated as the Artist of the Year.
The superstar’s absence then was likely due to the fact that she received only one nomination, while at the 2024 VMAs she received a whopping 12 nominations and ended up taking home seven Moon Person trophies.
It’s been a wild year for Swift, who wrapped up her record-breaking Eras Tour in December, is currently gearing up for the release of her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, and recently became engaged to her NFL star boyfriend. The two announced the happy news—alongside photos of Kelce’s proposal and Swift’s gleaming diamond ring—late last month.
