The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards are in full swing, and it was a night to remember as country star Reba McEntire and her long-time boyfriend Rex Linn confirmed their engagement.
After five years of dating, the lovebirds officially confirmed the news that they are set to wed during a joint red carpet appearance at the Emmy Awards. The news was confirmed by People after one of their reporters referred to the couple as fiancés as they made their way into the ceremony together.
During the ceremony, Reba took the stage alongside Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman as they sang the Golden Girl’s theme song in celebration of the show’s 30th anniversary.
Reba and Rex have shared a long, supportive relationship in the public eye and are now soon to walk down the aisle. This marriage will mark Reba’s third marriage during her music career after previously wedding Charlie Battles and then Narvel Blackstock.
The pair first met decades ago in 1991 on the set of The Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw but did not begin dating until they reconnected in 2020. Since going public with their relationship, Reba has sang the praises of her partner and how they get along in every way.
The 70-year-old singer told Fox News earlier this year, “He’s a better cook than I am, so I like that, for sure. We love Longhorns, we love the cowboy way of life, cowgirl way of life, and we both got into the entertainment industry.”
She added, “He’s an actor. I’m a singer. I love to act. Now we act together.”
