Apple TV+’s The Studio won 13 Emmy Awards, but none of the winners mentioned Sal Saperstein in their speeches. When a moment from the show played out in real life, fans wondered why the cast did not follow the trend that started in the series. In the winners’ room after the Emmys, Seth Rogen revealed the reasoning behind it.

Seth Rogen explains Sal Saperstein’s absence in The Studio’s Emmy speeches

The Studio, a comedy series on Apple TV+, had a big night at the 2025 Emmys. The show took home 13 awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series.

Fans of the show celebrated its many awards, but they also expressed disappointment that none of the cast thanked Sal Saperstein.

Why is it a big deal?

Sal Saperstein is a fictional character in The Studio, portrayed by Ike Barinholtz. The episode, “The Golden Globes,” features a fake Golden Globes ceremony. Every celebrity who won an award thanked Sal, the Continental Pictures executive, during their acceptance speeches. This left Matt Remick (Rogen), the co-executive producer, feeling dejected since nobody thanked him.

When The Studio won 13 Emmy Awards, fans expected the cast to recreate that moment from the series. However, that did not happen.

When the cast returned to the winners’ room on Sunday, they were asked why no one recreated the joke from the show. Responding to the curiosity, Rogen explained, “It’s our own joke. It feels weird to reference your own joke, in my opinion.” Barinholtz jokingly cut in and said, “I’m very disappointed.” (Deadline)

Rogen also revealed that he has been contacting several celebrities who could appear in the second season. While Rogen has not revealed any names, he is actively working toward it.
