Jimmy Kimmel ‘Coming Across as Insensitive’ to Staffers as He Weighs Late-Night TV Future (Exclusive) – National Enquirer

Jimmy Kimmel may be ready for retirement in the near future, but it has taken a toll on the people who work on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, according to a source.

A source tells the National Enquirer that the 57-year-old talk show host is “coming across as insensitive” as he is “saying he doesn’t have much time left in the business [because] that the whole genre is changing.”

“The people who work for him — the writers, the cameramen, the musicians, assistants, and so many others — most of them are living paycheck to paycheck and need the work,” explains the source.

The source claims the comedian is figuring out “what his next step is” and is potentially interested in hosting Jeopardy! one day, but won’t be able to “take these staffers with him.”

As the Enquirer previously reported, the TV personality discussed retirement with the Los Angeles Times in February 2024.

“I think this is my final contract. I hate to even say it, because everyone’s laughing at me now — each time I think that, and then it turns out to be not the case,” the late-night host told the publication, seemingly referring to how he initially planned to retire in 2023 but didn’t because of the writers’ strike.

“I still have a little more than two years left on my contract, and that seems pretty good,” he noted. “That seems like enough.”

However, Kimmel played coy when he was asked about leaving the show more recently.

“I’m not prepared to answer that question, but it is something that I think about a lot, and things have changed a lot over the last few years,” Kimmel told IndieWire earlier this month, per People.

“Each day is a new adventure and I kind of take them as they come,” he shared before joking, “Is that a good way of dodging the question?”
