When it comes to legendary bands, it’s hard to top one like Fleetwood Mac… but even the members of that band have their favorite rock ‘n’ roll bands! After all, if you dedicate your life to music, there’s a very good chance that you’re a fan of music yourself, too.
And for 78-year-old rocker Mick Fleetwood, the answer to his favorite band is a very simple one, and through the years, it hasn’t changed. As he explained in the TikTok video below, which he shared on his official account on Saturday, Sept. 13, it’s always going to be the Rolling Stones.
“My favorite band of all time is the Rolling Stones,” he said in the footage. “They’re just a great rock ‘n’ roll band, and they come from the same world that I came from in the early days of Fleetwood Mac.”
Fleetwood continued, “They’re a blues band, in truth. Rock ‘n’ roll band, for sure, but their first love is a lot of the same folks that drove us to do what we’re all doing, and they’re still doing it.”
Plenty of his followers agreed with him in the comments — but then again, who’s really going to question Mick Fleetwood’s taste in music? When he’s right, he’s right… though one person did point out something that’s kind of ironic.
“How funny is it that THIS Mick has people who would pick Fleetwood Mac,” they wrote. “The Stones are certainly the longest lasting, and are indeed huge in my family. We’ve all seen them, and my father (b. 1944) even calls them ‘his Stones.’ Having said that, I’m hanging with Fleetwood, all day, every day, and twice on Sunday.”
Mick Fleetwood Has Always Been a Fan of the Rolling Stones
In a 2008 interview with Classic Rock, Fleetwood talked about how much he loved watching the Rolling Stones play before he’d ever met them — and then the thrill of being able to tour with them in 1964.
At the time, he said that it would be a dream come true to play with the band, but so far, that opportunity hasn’t presented itself.
“The Stones really are my favorite band,” he said. “My dream has always been that Charlie Watts gets the flu and I get to save the day and play with the Stones for a week. But the call has never come.”
Never say never — there’s still time for his dream to come true!
