The Summer I Turned Pretty is airing its season finale on Wednesday, Sept. 17.
That means that leading up to Wednesday, we’ll be losing it over what’s going to happen in the final episode, while immediately after, we’ll be losing it over the thought that the series has officially come to an end.
Or has it?
Some TSITP fans are convinced that there’s going to be a secret episode, or even episodes, of the Jenny Han series, despite the previous announcement that the third and final season would include 11 episodes.
‘A12’ Swifties, Assemble
Taylor Swift’s music plays a huge role in the show. So it’s not far-fetched to theorize that Han is pulling a Swift and dropping hints and clues, as many eagle-eyed viewers picked up on some Easter eggs throughout the episode, alluding to possible secret episodes.
In one of the scenes, Belly (Lola Tung) is moving into her new Paris apartment, and many of the cardboard boxes feature “A12” in red. Swifties immediately clocked it, as the same hint appeared in a 2024 video shared by the singer, which eventually ended up being a tease for her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, revealed on August 12.
Another option is that maybe a tease of Swift’s song from the new album—scheduled for release on Oct. 3—will make its way to the finale episode for a first-ever debut.
Or… Is There Going to be a Total of 14 Episodes?
Following The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 Episode 10, fans declared that there was still so much story left, but not enough episodes to wrap it all up in a satisfying way.
Many complained that they hadn’t gotten their fix of Belly and Conrad (Christopher Briney) this season, considering much of it was spent leading up to Belly and Jeremiah’s (Gavin Casalegno) wedding and the fallout of it, which included Belly picking up and moving to Paris, where she was romanced by Benito (Fernando Cattori).
In the final moments of the penultimate episode, we see Conrad make the decision to buy a last-minute plane ticket and hop on a flight to Paris to visit Belly for her birthday, immediately after she finally answered one of his letters and gave him her new address.
It’s fair to say that an hour episode simply won’t wrap up their long-awaited storyline in a sufficient way, which is why fans think there’s got to be more that Han isn’t telling us.
So, why 14? There are a few Easter eggs dropped leading up to the finale that has fans thinking they’ve cracked the code.

Departure Gate 14
Prime Video
One of the more obvious ones is that Conrad’s airport gate is the number 14, seen behind the attendant when he’s buying his ticket.
Fare Change Adds Up to 14
Fans also pointed out that when he’s buying his ticket, his fare difference is $437, which a math whiz knows that added together (4+3+7) equals 14.
Of course, these could all be coincidences, but when has that ever been the case for someone who features several Swift songs in an episode and even made sure that the main character wore specific colors, with red designated for Conrad and blue for Jeremiah.
Belly’s Flashback Sweatshirt
Other hints seem to include Belly wearing a “14” sweatshirt in Conrad’s Christmas flashback.
Susannah’s Death Date
And not to mention the date in the episode is April 14.
Love You to Infinity
Someone else pointed out that if there were 14 episodes, it would mean that the finale would air on October 8, and turned to the side, an 8 resembles the infinity symbol, which has long been the symbol for Conrad and Belly’s love, with Connie even sending her Junior Mint with the infinity necklace he gifted her wrapped around his neck in the most recent episode.

The Episode Schedule Has Gone Missing
Several fans have pointed out that the schedule of episodes being released was deleted from the official The Summer I Turned Pretty Instagram account, leading many to believe that there will be some secret episodes, be that 12 or 14.
Furthermore, during the announcement, it was revealed that “Episode 1 and Episode 2” would be released together on July 16, but instead of “Episode 11” to continue the number pattern, the episode is simply labeled as “finale,” leading many to believe that there could be two episodes dropping, or even more.
If it concluded with two, it would not only give everyone the closure they so desperately need, but it would mirror the way the season began with a double episode release. Symmetry.
Someone on Reddit suggested it may be a supersized episode instead, noting, “I feel like it’s just going to be one longer-than-normal episode!”
Parade reached out to reps for TSITP inquiring about a finale runtime, but unfortunately, they told us they are unable to disclose any information regarding the final season.
When does The Summer I Turned Pretty finale air?
Ultimately, it seems we just have to wait, as patiently as we can (and as patiently as Conrad has been waiting for his girl), to see what unfolds on Sept. 17, (new episodes air at 3 a.m. ET/midnight PT), including who Belly ends up choosing!
