The Cab will release new music for the first time in more than a decade later this month.
The popular pop-punk band will drop their forthcoming four-track EP, “Road to Reign: A Prelude,” on Friday, Sept. 26.
“We know it took awhile. But the long road lead us right back to you. What was fractured can heal. What was silent can scream,” The Cab wrote in a Facebook post on Sept. 12. “On September 26th our heart will beat again. It’s time. The prelude is here.”
“Road to Reign: A Prelude” will mark the band’s first released since their 2014 EP, “Lock Me Up.” It’s unclear if the new EP means a full-length album is also on the way.
The Cab, featuring lead singer Alexander DeLeon, keyboardist/guitarist Alex T. Marshall and bassist Joey Thunder, formed in Las Vegas in the 2000s. The band rose to popularity in the MySpace/Warped Tour era with a sound that incorporated the genres of alternative rock, pop-punk, electropop and dance.
The Cab released their debut studio album “Whisper War” in 2008 and were named that year’s “The Band You Need to Know” by Alternative Press magazine. The band followed up with “Symphony Soldier” in 2011. The album featured the gold-certified single, “Angel with a Shotgun.” The Cab’s other notable singles include “One of THOSE Nights,” “Temporary Bliss,” “Stand Up,” “La La” and “Endlessly.”
The band entered an extended hiatus shortly after the release of “Lock Me Up.” Earlier this year, The Cab returned to activity with a reunion tour opening for All Time Low, as well as performances at the When We Were Young Festival.
