Lacey Chabert is the reigning Queen of Hallmark, having starred in over 40 films for the feel-good network. But last year she stepped into new territory: unscripted television.
With Chabert at the helm, Hallmark debuted the unscripted series, Celebrations, where the Mississippi native and her team of party professionals throw epic surprise parties of gratitude to honor everyday heroes.
Each episode shines a light on one person and the organization that they represent. The nominators work together with Chabert and the party team to create the most perfect celebration to honor the individual contributions of their specific hero. And now, they are all back to bring even more joy to a whole new group of deserving leaders.
“To get a second season of anything is such an opportunity and it’s not something I take lightly. I’m so thankful to Hallmark that we get the opportunity to celebrate these 8 individuals,” Chabert told Southern Living.
The veteran actress told us how much she enjoyed trying something new to her in the first season and was up for the challenge in season 2.
“I had never done anything unscripted before so it still feels new but I did certainly feel more comfortable this year and I got to be a lot more involved. Much more hands-on and much more involved with Lisa, Marisa and the planning of the celebrations.”
And she does get hands-on. You’ll see Chabert shuffling around a giant balloon arch twice her height and scrambling along with the team to get decorations upstairs when the building’s elevator breaks. Chabert does not just show up to speak to the camera, she’s rolling up her sleeves and going all-in to make sure each one of these heroes truly feels appreciated.
“I cry every episode. I mean I’m an emotional person typically in real life anyway but I cry every episode because my heart is just so touched,” she admitted.
“I love this year that we hear more about our hero from our hero themselves. And we hear more about their life and perhaps challenges that they’ve overcome, and how their organizations came to be.”
It’s clear too that Chabert is just getting started with this show. “We have so many ideas. If we are so fortunate enough to do a third season of this show, which I hope that we are, I really hope we can do a wedding. I’d like to do a baby shower. I really want to do an episode that focuses on a military story. So we have a whole list of ideas and I’d also love to take this show on the road. I’d love to do an episode in Mississippi where I’m from.”
We second this idea of taking the show on the road. Currently all episodes are filmed in the greater Los Angeles area, but we know there are so many deserving heroes in our neck of the woods.
For now, Chabert hopes that families can watch together and be inspired. “I just hope it warms people’s hearts. I [know] you can watch anything and the fact that you would choose to tune into something that we’ve created means the world. I hope that we deliver something that leaves you feeling uplifted.”
Celebrations airs Monday nights on Hallmark and is streaming the following day on Hallmark +.
