Maria Shriver got nostalgic in a heartfelt post about her son Patrick Schwarzenegger’s recent wedding to Abby Champion.
“One minute you’re fixing his bow tie, the next minute he’s getting married! Oh, how time flies as a parent,” Shriver, 69, captioned an Instagram post on Monday, September 15. The accompanying carousel of photos began with a throwback photo of her and Patrick, 31, from when he was a child, followed by shots from his September 6 wedding at Lake Coeur D’Alene in Idaho.
“It is [a] humbling experience to watch your baby boy grow into a good man and take this huge step in his life,” the journalist continued. “So yes, I wept. Oh, yes I did, but I was also bursting with joy. I’m grateful to god to be alive and to witness such a beautiful union.”

Shriver added that she is “so proud” of the White Lotus actor and his model bride’s “commitment to one another. They are the best of friends, and they are surrounded by great friends, loving supportive family, and god. I wish the newlyweds a life of understanding, love, and ongoing compassion for one another. And magic!”
Patrick is one of four kids Shriver shares with her ex-husband, Arnold Schwarzenegger, including Katherine, 35, Christina, 34, and Christopher, 27. The entire family, along with Katherine’s husband, Chris Pratt, 46, were featured in Shriver’s Instagram post.
As Globe previously reported, Arnold’s son Joseph Baena — who is the product of the 78-year-old’s affair with their housekeeper Mildred Baena, which led to Arnold’s 2011 split from Shriver after 25 years of marriage — was not invited.
