Crowley died of natural causes in Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 15, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Her death was announced by her son, Jon Hookstratten, executive vp administration and operations at Sony Pictures Entertainment.

Crowley’s death came just two days before her 92nd birthday. She is survived by her husband, television producer and executive Andy Friendly and her children.

The Pennsylvania native started her acting career in the early 1950s and quickly established herself in Hollywood, Parade reported. Her performances in the 1953 films “Forever Female” and “Money from Home” earned her the Golden Globe Award for Most Promising Newcomer – Female, an honor she shared with actresses Bella Darvi and Barbara Rush.

Crowley went on to appear in numerous television shows in the ’50s and ‘60s including “77 Sunset Strip,” “Mr. Kildare,” and “The Twilight Zone.” She gained particular recognition for her role as Joan Nash in the sitcom “Please Don’t Eat the Daisies,” which ran from 1965 to 1967. The show featured Crowley alongside Mark Miller as her husband Jim, chronicling their family life with four sons in Ridgemont, New York.

Crowley’s career continued throughout the ‘70s and ‘80s with appearances in popular series such as “Columbo,” “Police Story,” “Happy Days,” “Hawaii Five-O,” “Charlie’s Angels” and “The Love Boat.”

In 1986, she joined the cast of “Dynasty” as Emily Fallmont, wife of Senator Buck Fallmont (played by Richard Anderson). Her character became involved in a complicated affair with Ben Carrington (Christopher Cazenove) that would have lasting consequences for both characters.

The actress later became a fixture in daytime television, taking on the role of Rebecca Whitmore in “Generations” in 1989 and portraying Mary Scanlon in the “General Hospital” spinoff “Port Charles” from 1997 to 2003.

Crowley’s final acting credits included appearances in “The Bold and the Beautiful” (2005), “The Closer” (2006), “Cold Case” (2009) and her last role in “Mont Reve” in 2012.
