Charlotte native DaBaby released a new song called “Save Me” on Tuesday, which is dedicated to the victim of the fatal stabbing on Charlotte’s light rail last month.
WCNC reported that the music video begins with the original WCNC footage from their story on the surveillance footage that showed 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska being stabbed to death on the LYNX Blue Line by Decarlos Brown, a stranger who attacked her without provocation.
After about 30 seconds of the news footage, DaBaby begins rapping with dramatic reenactments using actors playing the parts of Brown and Zarutska on the light rail with DaBaby sitting across the aisle from them.
WCNC said that DaBaby did not reach out to the station for permission to use their footage in his music video. Their team reached out to DaBaby’s team for further comment.
