She’s not tumbling out of bed and stumbling to the kitchen — or pouring herself a cup of ambition — because Dolly Parton is recovering from a painful kidney stone.
The country legend, 79, missed the unveiling of her theme park’s brand-new Night Flight Expedition ride on Wednesday, Sept. 17, but made sure to greet fans in a heartfelt video message that was captured by a fan and shared on X.
“Hello Dollywood! It’s me,” Parton said with a smile. “I had a little problem. I had a kidney stone that was causing me a lot of problems, turned out it gave me an infection, and the doctor said, ‘You don’t need to be traveling right this minute.’”

Though she couldn’t be there in person, she reassured her fans, “Don’t worry about me. I’m gonna be okay.”
Despite the health setback, the “Jolene” singer’s dance card remains quite full.
A stage musical about her life premiered in Nashville earlier this year — with a Broadway run in New York City on the horizon — and she’s preparing for a six-show Las Vegas residency in December.
“Grab your rhinestones, Vegas is calling!” she shared with fans across her socials earlier this year while announcing the residency.
