Donald Trump subtly snubbed Prince Harry in his state banquet speech, with a pointed reference to his brother. While lauding Prince William, Trump praised the King for raising a “remarkable son,” but noticeably omitted any mention of his other son, Prince Harry, who is said to be ‘resented’ by Queen Camilla after his book, Spare, was released.

Addressing an audience that included King Charles III, Queen Camilla, the Princess of Wales, and a host of dignitaries, the US President – who is said to have made a ‘power move’ during his trip to the UK – lavished praise on the Royal Family. He specifically commended King Charles for raising a “remarkable son” and spoke warmly about Prince William’s future.

Trump stated: “He is going to have an unbelievable success in the future,” before complimenting Princess Catherine as “so radiant, so healthy, so beautiful.” The news comes as protests erupt after Jimmy Kimmel gets axed over his Charlie Kirk assassination remarks.

The comment seemed to intentionally overlook Prince Harry, who has stepped back from Royal duties and now resides in California with Meghan Markle. This omission sparked speculation that Trump was drawing a line under Harry’s strained relationship with the monarchy.

While not overtly critical, the remark was perceived as a subtle yet pointed reminder of the Duke of Sussex’s absence from frontline Royal life. Trump continued to heap praise on the King, stating Charles had preserved “the glorious and unique character of this kingdom.”

He described his visit as “one of the highest honors of my life,” adding that his respect for Britain stretched back “many decades.” King Charles reciprocated graciously, recognizing the lasting “special relationship” between Britain and America, while jesting that the press had once attempted to arrange his marriage into the Nixon dynasty.

Both leaders honored the solidarity of their countries in backing Ukraine against Russian invasion. Mr Trump’s remarks reinforced his longstanding respect for the Royal family – but the brief jab at Harry guaranteed the address carried additional bite.

The President, the first American commander-in-chief to receive a second state visit, quipped it could also be his final one, before noting with a grin: “I hope it is actually.”

The occasion commenced with Prince William and his spouse, Catherine, Princess of Wales, welcoming the presidential helicopter in the private Walled Garden on the expansive Windsor grounds, then escorting Mr Trump and first lady Melania Trump to meet Charles and Queen Camilla. A massive Royal standard, the banner displayed during official ceremonial occasions, soared from the Royal Tower.

The visitors journeyed to the fortress in a parade of horse-drawn carriages, passing formations of soldiers, sailors and airmen.

The monarch and the Republican commander-in-chief conversed in the Irish State Coach during the brief trip to the castle courtyard, where both reviewed an honor guard of troops in scarlet uniforms and bearskin caps.

They maintained their dialogue and banter as the event unfolded, with the King periodically placing his hand on Mr Trump’s shoulder. The president moved ahead of Charles during a troop review after the King signaled for him to proceed. This gesture by the King prevented a breach of protocol, unlike in 2019 when Mr. Trump stepped ahead of Queen Elizabeth.
