Lorde launched the Ultrasound World Tour at Moody Center in Austin, Texas, on Wednesday, Sept. 17.
The tour is in support of “Virgin,” Lorde’s acclaimed new album, to which the AV Club responded, “‘Virgin’ is an album so earnestly, painfully vulnerable you can almost see straight through to the blood and guts. It’s not always polished or pretty, but it doesn’t have to be. It’s alive.”
“Virgin” hit the Billboard album chart at No. 2 in July and follows “Solar Power,” an album she released in 2021.
In a newsletter message to fans, Lorde said of the Ultrasound World Tour, “Since last time I’ve been stripping away unnecessary layers, finding us more room to move. I think that Ultrasound could be our masterpiece. Very proud and excited. … Come see what’s under the skin.”
