Grammy award-winning producer Sydney Brown, known by his stage name Omen, was found dead in his Harlem apartment on Saturday, according to USA Today.
The 49-year-old producer had missed a scheduled performance at Barawine, a local bar, prompting his relatives to check in on him.
“He was holistic and healthy. So we don’t know of him being sick, so this is all pretty sudden,” his sister, Nicole Iris Brown, told NBC News.

The cause of his death is still under investigation.
“Omen was part of Barawine’s team for over a decade bringing his unique talent to all,” Barawine said in a statement. “There are not enough words to express our feelings.”
Brown was born and raised in Harlem and began producing music in the ‘90s. Throughout his production career, he has worked with artists such as Drake, Lil Wayne and Beyonce.
The producer worked with Drake on the songs “Shut It Down” and “Mine.”
Brown also produced the track “Tell It Like It Is” for Ludacris’ album “Release Therapy.” The album went on to win a Grammy for Best Rap Album.
