Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon have shared more than two decades of friendship, but even Aniston was floored to realize she never actually knew her best friend’s full name.
The pair sat down for a playful round of LADBible’s “Do You Even Know Me?” where Witherspoon decided to test her co-star’s knowledge. She asked Aniston to guess her middle name, offering up three options: Jane, Jeanne, or Joan.
Without hesitation, Aniston guessed Jane, only for Witherspoon to reveal, “It’s Jeanne,” before adding, “That’s confusing. I’m Laura Jeanne.”
The revelation left Aniston stunned. The Friends alum repeated in disbelief, “Laura Jeanne?” to which Witherspoon confirmed, “That’s my real name.” Still taken aback, Aniston cracked, “Who’s Laura? Who the hell’s Laura? Wait, Laura Jeanne? I’m not calling you that from now on. ‘Come on, Laura Jeanne.’”
Curious how her longtime friend became known as Reese, Aniston asked for clarification. Witherspoon explained that Reese is actually her middle name. “Oh, like Norma Jean?” Aniston teased, before Witherspoon responded, “Yeah, I’m Laura Jeanne Reese.” The actress clarified that although her given name is Laura Jeanne Reese, she’s always gone by Reese, even before Hollywood.
The fun exchange turned back on Aniston when Witherspoon asked her middle name. “Joanna,” she replied. “Jennifer Joanna,” Witherspoon repeated with a smile. “J.J. Does anybody call you J.J.? Well I do now.”
The duo met in 2000, when Witherspoon guest starred as Rachel Green’s younger sister Jill on Friends, and are now co-stars once again on The Morning Show. The Legally Blonde alum recently reflected on her friendship with Aniston to Entertainment Tonightearlier this month. “It’s been incredible to watch yourself grow and encourage each other to step into a leadership role,” she said about Aniston.
