Emily in Paris star LucienLaviscount teased what fans can expect in the upcoming season 5, and he told viewers to “strap in” for the exciting episodes.
“All I’m gonna say is strap in,” Laviscount, 33, told People about the new season in an interview published on Saturday, September 20. “Because it goes left, so far left, and a little bit right this season.”
Laviscount stars as Alfie, who joined the hit Netflix series in season 2. He was originally introduced as a new love interest for Emily (Lily Collins), which caused issues amid the budding chemistry between her and her neighbor, Gabriel (Lucas Bravo).
By the end of season 2, things were no longer romantic between Alfie and Emily. Season 5 will pick up with Emily’s new life in Rome as she pursues a romance with Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini).
“I didn’t know what to expect — none of us do before we get the scripts — and we got the scripts for this season and it’s… Yeah, I don’t think anyone could have foreseen that coming,” Laviscount added of the upcoming episodes, implying that there’s plenty of drama to come.

While Laviscount didn’t reveal too much about the new episodes, he did say that it was “amazing” to be back filming. “It’s good to be back — to be back in Paris. We shot quite a little bit in Rome as well,” he shared.
He also acknowledged that the cast’s dynamics have changed a lot since the show first premiered in 2020. “Lily’s a mom now. Everyone’s kind of fighting through life and in new relationships and new friendships and everything like that,” he said. “So it’s been great to kind of get back in on set with everyone and see where everyone’s there.”
Despite experiencing changes over the years, Laviscount insisted that he still loves playing his character. “I think Alfie kind of always speaks his truth, which I’d like to say is a trait of mine. In the most difficult situations, he speaks the truth. I like to say I’m pretty similar in that respect,” he said. “I love playing Alfie. Alfie’s been an amazing part of my life now. It’s been cool.”
Season 5 of Emily in Paris will premiere on December 18 on Netflix.
