Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly felt snubbed by the British Royal family during Donald Trump’s state visit to the UK.
This week, the American president and First Lady Melania were welcomed at Windsor Castle, having received an invitation from King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
Despite their busy itinerary, the Prince and Princess of Wales also found time to meet with the President and his spouse, a marked difference from their reserved approach when Harry met with his father just days earlier.
Alongside the ruling monarchs, the pair attended the Windsor Castle State Banquet, where Trump allegedly delivered a speech expressing gratitude to his hosts for their warm reception.
During his address, President Trump heaped praise upon the royals, pausing to particularly commend Prince William as a “remarkable son” and voicing his belief in the heir’s “incredible success in the future.”, reports the Mirror US.
Numerous observers noted that Donald omitted any reference to Charles’s younger son, Prince Harry, throughout his comments.
According to Rob Shuter, the Sussexes were stunned by the remarks, though they were more troubled by the Royal family’s response.
A source disclosed, “It was a dig, no question. Watching the family laugh along felt like betrayal.
“The pomp, the handshakes, the compliments – to them, it looks like bowing down to a man who has openly insulted them for years,” the insider further clarified.
Two years after their Royal wedding in 2018, the couple relinquished their Royal responsibilities and relocated to Montecito, California. Whilst their rows with the Royal Family intensified after their exit, Meghan and Harry’s feud with Donald began long before their departure.
In May 2016, the actress featured on The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore whilst still starring in Suits. She branded the businessman “misogynistic” and “divisive.”
Their animosity has only deepened since, with Donald previously describing Harry as “whipped” and stating he is “not a fan” of Meghan’s.
Prior to his re-election, the businessman threatened to deport the Duke should he return to the Oval Office.
In February 2024, the former president spoke exclusively to the Daily Express US at the CPAC conference in Washington, D. C.
During the chat, he disclosed, “I wouldn’t protect him. He betrayed the Queen [Elizabeth II]. That’s unforgivable. He would be on his own if it was down to me.”
His position has altered since beginning his second term.
Speaking to the celebrity.land, he said, “I don’t want to do that. I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible.”
