It truly wouldn’t be a Marvel film without some chaos. Time and again, Avenger: Doomsday has been making waves for shooting without a complete script – something that also happened with Infinity War and Endgame. Looking back, we all know how those films turned out to be behemoths.
Now, Alan Cumming, who played Nightcrawler in 2003’s X2: X-Men United and will be reprising his role in Doomsday, has weighed in on the matter.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Cumming was asked if he ever saw the script, to which he replied, “Oh yeah, we eventually saw a script. It took a while. We had a script.”
Cummings further went on to explain the level of secrecy Marvel put in place to prevent any leaks. He added, “It’s complicated. A lot of the time, some characters have different names for secrecy. I got the gist of it. It’s massive.”
As is well known, Marvel is very strict and keeps all cards close to its chest. Due to this strict policy, Cumming previously admitted in an interview with Gold Derby that the studio did everything to keep even the actors in the dark. He said, “I did the entire film in isolation. Lots of green screen, face replacement. They even gave characters fake names. I don’t know who I was acting with half the time.”
Avengers: Doomsday will mark the return of X-Men alumni Professor X (Patrick Stewart), Magneto (Ian McKellen), Beast (Kelsey Grammer), Nightcrawler (Alan Cumming), Mystique (Rebecca Romijn), Cyclops (James Marsden), and Gambit (Channing Tatum).
