The 69th Nadigar Sangam General Committee meeting was held today at the Kamaraj Arangam in Chennai. Speaking, Vadivelu strongly pointed out the situation where YouTubers are systematically criticizing films. “Some actors use YouTubers to criticize rival actors’ films in order to make their films successful. They are exaggerating a small matter and diminishing the value of our filmmakers. Such actions are very wrong and are detrimental to our film industry,” he stressed.
Vadivelu alleged involvement of some Producers’ Council and Union members
Vadivelu also alleged that some members of the Producers’ Council and even members of the Actors’ Union were involved in this scam. “The Nadigar Sangam is there to protect actors. But no one condemned this act. When some people act together, it is not just affecting a single film; it is tantamount to trying to destroy the entire cinema. The South Indian Artists’ Union should come forward to stop this,” he expressed his dissatisfaction.
