“Weapons” director Zach Cregger has more plans for Aunt Gladys, the wickedly talented occult expert played by Amy Madigan. Cregger has directly confirmed that he’s developing a “Weapons” prequel that will focus on the character, affirming reports that a follow-up was in the works.
“It is real and I’ve been talking to Warner Bros. about it,” Cregger told Fangoria in a new interview. “There’s a story and I’m pretty excited about it. It’s not bullshit.”
While studios often get to work on sequels after a film is a hit, Cregger says that he had already been mulling a concept for an Aunt Gladys prequel before “Weapons” even came out and became a box office success, grossing more than $260 million worldwide.
“I was ready,” Cregger said. “I had it kind of in my pocket before the movie came out.”
