This fall, he’s continuing the story with “The Family McMullen,” a movie he filmed in New Jersey.

The sequel, which will be in theaters for one day next month (see details below), spent 19 days filming in Jersey in April and May, the state Economic Development Authority tells NJ Advance Media.

The production reported spending $8.4 million in the state and received a $3 million tax credit.

“The Brothers McMullen,” which Ed Burns wrote, directed and starred in, won the grand jury prize at the Sundance Film Festival in 1995 and the Independent Spirit Award for best first feature.

The movie, which grossed more than $10 million, is about three brothers from an Irish American family, their love lives and life problems.

Burns stars as Finbar “Barry” McMullen. Michael McGlone and Jack Mulcahy play his brothers, Patrick and Jack. Connie Britton plays Molly McMullen, Jack’s wife.

Burns filmed the movie in his family’s real home in Valley Stream, Long Island.

“The Family McMullen,” the Warner Bros. sequel to Burns’ ’90s breakout hit, will be in theaters via Fathom Entertainment Oct. 15.

The movie is set 30 years after “The Brothers McMullen,” and Burns, McGlone and Britton reprise their roles from the first film.

Barry, now in his 50s, has kids in their 20s, while Molly (Britton) is a widow after Jack died.

Returning cast members are joined by Tracee Ellis Ross, Brian d’Arcy James (“Spotlight”), Pico Alexander (“Gossip Girl”), Juliana Canfield (“Succession”) and Halston Sage (“X-Men: Dark Phoenix”).

“My hope in re-exploring the McMullen clan was to make another film that would put a smile on the audience’s face and remind moviegoers that home isn’t just a place, it’s the people you share it with,” Burns said in a statement.

“The Family McMullen” filmed in Jersey City at two addresses on Montgomery Street as well as Franklin Social, a tavern on Barrow Street, and The Ties at Woodford Hall, a bar in Little Falls.

Burns also wrote and directed the recent movie “Millers in Marriage,” which was released in February and filmed in Jersey, too.

He starred alongside Julianna Margulies, Gretchen Mol, Minnie Driver, Benjamin Bratt and Morena Baccarin in the ensemble cast, along with Campbell Scott, Brian d’Arcy James, Erica Hernandez, Montclair’s Patrick Wilson and Livingston’s Leslie Rodriguez Kritzer.
