Jimmy Kimmel’s late night show is returning to ABC on tonight, although not all households will be able to see the show. Here’s what to know and how to watch.
A company called Sinclair which operates more than 35 ABC affiliates across the United States said it would replace Kimmel’s show with news programming. Nexstar Media Group has followed in the same vein and will also preempt the late night show.
The two companies make up about 25% of ABC’s national household reach.
“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” was suspended indefinately on Sept. 17 after criticism of Kimmel’s comments about the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Disney, which owns ABC, said in a statement on Monday: “Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country. It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive.”
Adding “We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.”
