Sabrina Carpenter isn’t holding back on her stance on man-children.
The Man’s Best Friend singer, 26, shared her candid thoughts about men and dating in a recent September 2025 interview with Vogue Italia.
“I do think that men have been a super entertaining species to watch,” Sabrina told the outlet, translated to English. “In positive and negative ways. I feel really adored and inspired and loved by some of them … and really confused and attacked and ridiculed by others.”
For the Grammy-nominated star, navigating the public eye has added another layer to those experiences. Carpenter explained that the spotlight has forced her to find humor and coping mechanisms for dealing with life’s more uncomfortable moments.
“In life, you have to be able to take the moments that make us uncomfortable lightly, or at least that’s true for me,” she said. “All my life, I’ve thought that’s what humor is all about. In addition to saving me, this kind of wit has been a filter that has ensured my protection for the future.”
Despite her nuanced view on men, the “Nobody’s Son” singer has no shortage of love for baby boys entering the world.
“When one of my female friends announces that she’s having a son, I just rejoice for that young boy,” she explained. “Because I know he’s going to be raised right.” She added, teasingly, “Correct me if I’m wrong, I’ve only been on Earth for 26 years, but I feel like we’ve always kind of had to train them. Unfortunately, it’s a tale as old as time.”
Carpenter’s reflections come after a high-profile year both personally and professionally. She split from actor Barry Keoghan last December after a year of dating, yet she continues to channel her experiences into her music. In particular, her recent album Man’s Best Friend reflects the heartbreak and growth she’s experienced along the way.
“I think I came out of a sad situation a lot less bitter than I intended or expected to, with a little bit more of the, like, ‘You know what? There’s two people involved, and this is part of growing up,’” she told Zane Lowe earlier this month. “I don’t want to be enemies with people that I loved … I feel like it is one of those situations where, even the album starting with, ‘Oh, boy’ was sort of an eye roll to yourself being like, ‘Here we go again.’”
