WORCESTER — On Sept. 28, the Silverbacks, aka “The Delta Force of Rock ‘n’ Roll,” are planning to secure a beachhead of maximum R&B at the Worcester Marine Corps League, 181 Lake Ave.
Made up of some of the best-seasoned players in the region, the Silverbacks will deliver its uncompromising, rock ‘n’ roll blitzkrieg from 2 to 5 p.m. Admission is $10.
Boasting the call-and-response, one-two punch of local guitar legend Cliff Goodwin and local punk legend Mike Lynch, the Silverbacks is made up of a virtual who’s who of Worcester’s best musicians and veterans of the rock ‘n’ roll trenches.
With a creative relationship Lynch has played with the Mighty Bel-Mars and the Lynch Mob. Goodwin’s extensive list of acts he’s played with include the American Standard Band, Joe Cocker, Robert Palmer, Wilbur and the Dukes, the Shaboo Allstars, the Mitch Chakour Band, the Mohegan Sun All-Stars and Christine Ohlman and Rebel Montez. Both agree that the friendship and musicianship of seasoned musicians who know and respect each other and can practically telepathically read each other’s thoughts onstage make the Silverbacks special.
In addition to Goodwin and Lynch, the Silverbacks are guitarist Jimmy Perry, bassist Glenn DiTomasso, drummer Bill MacGillivray and saxophonist Deric Dyer, who worked with Tina Turner and Joe Cocker for a number of years.
