Tavare will return, Moran to make first appearance
Ironton Wizardfest will be see the return of an innkeeper and the first-time visit of snatcher.
For the fans of Harry Potter, that is Jim Tavare, who played Tom the Innkeeper and is making his third appearance, and Nick Moran, who played Scaboir, one of the people who caught wizards in the Deathly Hallows.
“Nick is one of what people consider a jobbing actor, so he works a lot,” said Brad Bear, one of the organizers of the event. “One of the films that he played lead in was ‘Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.’ He played Eddy. I’m looking forward to meeting him. They say he is a sweetheart of a guy.”
Tavare has had a long career as a comedian, well known for appearing in formal wear and playing an upright bass. He was the first overseas actor to appear on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing,” has worked with Ricky Gervais on “‘The Jim Tavaré Show” and is a favorite comedian of England’s King Charles.
“It’s funny, because they both play big parts in the Harry Potter films as supporting cast, but the rest of their career is phenomenal,” Bear said, with a laugh. “They are legends. I am excited to bring that level of talent to Wizardfest and letting people meet them. People know them in context of the Harry Potter films, but I like making people aware that they have done other things that are pretty spectacular.”
As to whether any other Harry Potter cast members will appear, “it completely depends on scheduling and because they will already be in the United States on tour. But I can’t announce anything there. We just don’t know if it will work out timing wise.”
The Ironton Wizardfest will return for its seventh year on Nov. 8 and 9 and there are many popular returning things like the Riddle rooms, Harry Potter trivia, Wizarding Academy and Muggitch, a non-magical version of Quidditch and Butter Beer.
