Alessia Cara had some dates on the books to play shows across Latin America in November, but was forced to cancel them due to a dispute with a promoter.
The Grammy Award-winning singer posted about the situation on her X account on Tuesday, explaining the difficulties she faced with her upcoming shows in Argentina and Brazil.
“I’ll be honest and say the promoter for the Argentina and Brazil shows simply lost faith and pulled out,” she wrote. “We tried to reason, tried to scale back on production, and do everything we can to find a solution, but ultimately it came down to not seeing eye to eye and having no choice but to cancel.”
Unfortunately, the loss of the Latin American dates would, in turn, impact her upcoming stops in Mexico. Cara explained she wouldn’t be able to “sustain them financially” without completing the Latin America shows first. The singer went on to state she is “frustrated by the unprofessionalism, mishandling, and lack of communication” and will no longer work with the people responsible.
“The industry is in a very weird place right now in many ways, so please try to have some grace for artists and their teams doing their best to navigate this new landscape. I understand if you’re upset with me, and I’m so sorry.”
In March, Cara had to postpone the U.S. leg of her Love & Hyperbole Tour because of “factors outside of her control” involving the challenging aspects of touring and making “all the moving parts” work together. The singer is scheduled to kick off the rescheduled leg on October 29 at the Filmore in San Francisco.
