The filmmaker revealed that one draft nearly featured John Economos in a surprising scene with Vigilante’s mother, offering fans a glimpse into the kind of outrageous humor the writers originally considered before refining the final cut.

Economos almost made out with Vigilante’s mother in Peacemaker Season 2

In Peacemaker Season 2 Episode 6, James Gunn revealed on Peacemaker: The Official Podcast that he almost wrote a scene where John Economos made out with Vigilante’s mother. Gunn said, “In one of the original scripts, I had Vigilante’s mom rolling around on the couch, making out with John Economos.” He designed the gag as a quick cutaway to shock Vigilante before he headed into his basement.

The podcast explained that this moment marked the only time Economos appeared on Earth-2. Gunn described how he wrote the scene with Vigilante stumbling upon the encounter and exclaiming, “Oh… my mom is [with] John Economos, dude,” before walking away.

Steve Agee, who plays Economos, laughed about the idea during the recording, while Jennifer Holland joined in and joked about how absurd the draft version sounded. The sequence never appeared on screen because Gunn cut it for pacing and tone.

Instead, Vigilante’s Earth-2 storyline focused on his interactions with his alternate self. The episode also highlighted comedic discoveries in his house. These included “Cheeriohs” cereal boxes and odd lawn ornaments that emphasized subtle differences.
