Hit singer and TV superstar Kelly Clarkson is managing to “look on the bright side” of life, dealing with the aftermath of the shock death of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.
Clarkson has adopted a “warrior” outlook, vowing to maintain work commitments and not allow grief to interfere with business.
The first-season American Idol winner is also committed to keeping her children protected and out of the limelight during this difficult period.
That insight comes from Clarkson’s friend and long-term hair stylist, Robert Ramos, who has worked with her on her Emmy-winning talk series and The Voice.
The 43-year-old is focused on trying to “enjoy life” at work as a judge on the NBC singing show and chat series, which had started filming on September 8.
“And I don’t have children, but she does. So it is a different level.
“I feel like what I personally see is that she is just being a mom and being a hard worker, and she’s just kind of like being a warrior.”
Ramos acknowledged that Clarkson “has always done her best to keep her children away from showbiz while building an entertainment career.
The master stylist explained, “Well, she’s balanced that part of her life with ease and grace. She’s very graceful about it. She’s very easy about it.
“What I love the most about it is she doesn’t bring it to work. So it’s like that’s really the best thing I could say because it’s not up for conversation. It’s like when we’re at work, we’re at work and we’re working. And we are enjoying ourselves.
“And I think for me, as her hairstylist, I bring a levity and I bring a lightness and I bring jokes and silliness to keep it light.”
Ramos, famed for crafting coiffures for Jessica Alba, Stevie Nicks, and Bette Midler, is one of the first of Clarkson’s friends to speak openly about how she is coping with becoming a single mother to daughter River, 11, and nine-year-old son Remington.
Clarkson has not spoken about Blackstock, 48, who passed away from a long battle with cancer on August 7 after a years-long private battle with cancer.
It is unknown how she will address her family tragedy when her NBC daytime show returns next Monday (September 29).
Ramos was introduced for his DBA honor by Hollywood actress Melissa McCarthy – one of the famous A-listers, who he has shaped their hair styles.
Ramos, who runs the Ramos Carreon Salon, spoke about his pride at being an immigrant who had achieved success in the US, starting out in the 1980s.
He noted, “It is the first time I have ever been honored.”
The 7th Annual Daytime Beauty Awards celebrates science behind beauty, health and wellness; spotlighting professionals in the fields of medicine, health and fitness, aesthetics, skincare, color and styling, CBD & cannabis, beauty innovation and more. This year’s show benefits their equine friends at historic Mounted Platoon (501c3).
