Exciting news for both Andor and Narnia fans: Denise Gough, from the critically acclaimed Disney+ series Andor, has joined Netflix’s reboot of The Chronicles of Narnia. Details about the character are still under wraps, but according to Gough, she will be playing someone really “mean.”
While appearing as a guest star on Mehdi Hasan’s We’re Not Kidding podcast, Denise announced her casting, saying, “I’m doing a film with Greta Gerwig called Narnia… I’m playing someone mean in that, but it’s fine, it’s to children, it’s okay.”
The internet began speculating about who Denise would play, especially after she dropped the hint “mean”. The first and most obvious guess was the evil White Witch, but that’s not possible since Emma Mackey is already set to portray the role. Another theory suggests Aunt Letty, the sister of Uncle Andrew. But for now, it remains speculation until more details emerge.
Already associated with other impressive projects, the Narnia role is yet another laurel in Denise’s career. Apart from essaying the role of 0Dedra Meero in Andor, Denise has lent her acting skills to projects such as Titanic: Blood and Steel, Stella, and Guerrilla. She has also voiced Jennefer in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
Denise joins Emma Mackey alongside other rumoured names like Meryl Streep, Daniel Craig, and Carey Mulligan in Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of C.S. Lewis’s sixth novel, The Magician’s Nephew.
